There has never been a better time to help ACNED. The organization needs your support to help feed thousands of people who are relying on simply a daily meal. Even before the earthquake the organization was incapable of answering every call. Now, as more and more people are looking for help in feeding their children, it is very sad to tell them we cannot help them.
Due to the earthquake aftermath families have been leaving in masse the devastated capital Port-au-Prince as they search for safe ground. We need your support in order to accommodate the hundreds of new students seeking enrollment at our rural communities schools.
Small organizations such as ACNED are doing a tremendous job helping Haitians from what they call the darkest moment in the country’s 204 years of existence. These organizations have very little or no resources at all. Lack of funding prevented them from getting the most of their vast network of volunteers. ACNED provides support in many areas especially the remote areas where RED CROSS and other major international organization have yet to reach.
As Haitian’s flee the ravaged capital Port-au-Prince for their hometown, which they left many years ago, they are faced with an even more uncertain future. Most likely the village they arrive will have no hospital, clean water, food or sanitation. Many of them are traumatized and injured, and without proper care they will only get worse and pass on their disease to other villagers. There is no local government representing those localities.
In fact, no aide organization has ever reached these areas, most of which are unheard of. It is unlikely the aide pledge to Haiti will benefit any of these people because Red Cross and other well-known organizations are focus on those in port-au-Prince and the near by communities. CHC is already providing aide to many of the unreachable areas and helping those who left Port-Au-Prince. The more support we get from you, the more we can do to help the villagers.
